India, Feb. 13 -- A special POCSO Court on Thursday convicted a man of raping his stepdaughter and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

The convict, who is 52 years old at the time of sentencing, shall spend the remainder of his life in jail, according to Special Public Prosecutor Jayanta Chowdhury.

Elaborating on the facts of the case, Chowdhury said, "The victim's mother married the convict as her second husband. She had a daughter from her previous marriage.

On the night of April 15, 2024, while the mother was away from the bedroom, the convict raped the child. When the mother returned, she found her daughter lying on the floor, bleeding profusely.
