Sonam Wangchuk urges supporters to join July 20 march, calls protest India's second freedom movement
Guwahati, July 19 -- Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has issued a message to his supporters from Safdarjung Hospital after being removed from his indefinite hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
The message, shared by his wife Gitanjali, urges supporters to join the planned July 20 march and describes his removal from the protest site as "illegal". Wangchuk also characterised the ongoing agitation as "India's second freedom movement".
In his statement, Wangchuk alleged that he was being unlawfully detained at Safdarjung Hospital after being taken away from Jantar Mantar by the Delhi Police during an early morning operation on Saturday.
