Guwahati, Aug. 27 -- The Supreme Court will hear journalist Abhisar Sharma's petition on Thursday, August 28, 2025, seeking to quash an FIR lodged against him by the Assam Police over a video he posted allegedly criticising state policies.
A Bench comprising Justices M.M. Sundresh and N. Kotiswar Singh is expected to take up Sharma's plea, which advocate Sumeer Sodhi filed on his behalf.
In his petition, Sharma has challenged the constitutional validity of Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a provision that addresses actions deemed threatening to India's sovereignty, unity, and integrity.
