Dimapur, Sept. 30 -- Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang on Wednesday stressed the need to improve farmers' access to institutional credit, saying it would help them purchase seeds, equipment and livestock and strengthen agricultural activities.

Zeliang was speaking at the inauguration of an Axis Bank branch in Jalukie, Peren district, where he also urged the bank to extend its services to surrounding villages and communities.

He said institutional credit could provide young entrepreneurs with capital to start businesses, support small traders and help existing enterprises expand.
