Guwahati, May 4 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a decisive victory in the bypoll in Northeast, with its candidate Jahar Chakraborti securing a decisive victory in the Dharmanagar Assembly bypoll in Tripura, while Daochier Imchen took a significant lead in the Koridang by-election in Nagaland.

Chakraborti polled a total of 24,291 votes, comfortably defeating his opposition. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Amitabha Datta secured 6,001 votes, while Indian National Congress nominee Chayan Bhattacharya received 5,936 votes.

Other contenders,including candidates from smaller parties such as Amra Bangalee and SUCI(C), as well as independent candidates, lagged significantly behind. The None of the Above (NOTA) optio...
