Dimapur, July 2 -- Nagaland's Wokha district administration on Thursday asked livestock owners to report the death of animals due to any disaster within 24 hours to the nearest veterinary centre or administrative authority to claim relief under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

Outlining the guidelines for reporting and notifying livestock deaths to claim relief, Wokha DC K Mhathung Tsanglao, in a circular, said that the death of animals due to a disaster must be reported within 24 hours to the authorities concerned for further action.

It said that, upon receiving the report, the district veterinary officer or field staff will conduct spot verification and assess the situation within three days of the incident.
