Guwahati, April 10 -- The polling for Nagaland's 28 Koridang (ST) Assembly by-election was held on Thursday, 9 April, and ended with a turnout of 82.21%, spread across 30 polling booths.
Officials noted that this exercise involved one of the heaviest security arrangements ever deployed for a single constituency.
Voting remained smooth and incident-free throughout the day. Authorities confirmed that no violence was reported, even though the constituency had witnessed pre-election disturbances that led to one death and damage to property.
Official records show that 18,045 votes were cast through EVMs, along with 253 postal ballots and 18 votes under the PwD category. This brought the total number of votes polled to 18,316.
