Guwahati, July 21 -- Heavy rainfall has caused widespread devastation across Nagaland, with flash floods and landslides claiming nine lives and leaving four people missing, according to the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).

Rescue teams are continuing search operations for those reported missing as several parts of the state remain affected by the impact of incessant rains.

All nine fatalities have been reported from Mon district, where five people lost their lives after a landslide struck Mon town. In another incident at Naginimora, rescue personnel managed to save four people who were swept away by floodwaters.
