Guwahati, July 19 -- A rescue team comprising local guides and youth volunteers saved a 19-year-old tourist from Guwahati after he fell about 100 feet while trekking to Dzukou Valley in Nagaland's Viswema area on July 18.

The injured trekker was identified as Hisahetuk Das, who slipped from a trail near Khiyokesa at around 3 pm while making his way towards the popular valley.

Members of the Southern Angami Tour Guide Council, along with volunteers from the Viswema Youth Organisation and the Z Khel Viswema Youth Organisation, reached the spot and carried Das out of the area despite heavy rain, steep terrain and dense dwarf bamboo vegetation.
