Aizawl: The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizoram's largest and most influential student organisation, on Thursday strongly criticised the state government over the alleged re-employment of retired government officials, describing the practice as an "insult" to unemployed youth and the people of the state.

Addressing a press conference in Aizawl, MZP president Dr C. Lalremruata said the organisation has consistently opposed the reappointment of pensioners and remains firm in its stand against such practices.

He said the continued engagement of retired officials in government service undermines employment opportunities for educated but unemployed youths across Mizoram.
