India, Sept. 21 -- Guwahati: After the Assam government decided to perform the last rites of cultural icon Zubeen Garg at Sonapur, following his family's wishes, Jorhat MP and Assam Pradesh Congress leader Gourav Gogoi on Sunday evening urged the state to take long-term steps to preserve the singer's legacy.
Gogoi said, "Moy kaliye koisilu... I had already emphasized that Zubeen's funeral should follow the family's decision, and that the love and emotions of the people of Jorhat toward the late singer must also be respected."
Since the government honored the family's wishes regarding the cremation, the MP presented several appeals to the state.
