Aizawl, April 23 -- Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Wednesday assumed charge as president of the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), party sources said.
The move comes in the wake of standing president Lalliansawta proceeding on leave for an unspecified period owing to health concerns, according to an official order issued by the party.
The order stated that Lalliansawta had entrusted Lalduhoma, who is also the leader of the ZPM Legislature Party, with the responsibility of acting as president during his absence. The party subsequently endorsed the arrangement, handing over the charge of the presidency to the Chief Minister.
The arrangement came into effect from April 22 and will continue until further orders, the statement added.
