Aizawl, Oct. 15 -- Union Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday directed officials and contractors to accelerate construction of the Rs 500-crore Aizawl bypass project to ensure its completion by the January 2028 deadline, officials said.

Majumdar inspected the ongoing construction of the 45-km road, being developed under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DeVINE) scheme. During his visit to the Sihhmui base camp, he interacted with state Public Works Department officials and representatives of the executing agency.
