Aizawl, Sept. 10 -- The Centre has approved the appointment of Mizoram Judicial Service officer Helen Dawngliani as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court, making her the second Mizo woman to serve on a High Court bench, officials said on Wednesday.

The Union government issued the formal appointment notification on Tuesday, following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.

The Collegium had on August 18 recommended Dawngliani, along with Nagaland-based advocate Nchumbemo Mozhui, for appointment as High Court judges. The Centre subsequently accepted the recommendation and notified their appointments.
