Aizawl, Sept. 12 -- Five construction workers from Nepal and other Indian states have been detained for questioning in connection with the death of their co-worker in west Mizoram's Mamit district, a police officer said on Friday.

The victim, aged 42, hailed from Nepal and was camping with others near Lungphun village when he was allegedly killed by his co-workers on Wednesday night.

His body was later recovered from a gorge, the police officer said. The workers were employed by a road construction company to repair roads, walls, and culverts.

An autopsy examination of the victim's body was conducted at Kanghmun on Friday.
