Aizawl: In a major anti-narcotics operation near the Indo-Myanmar border, the paramilitary force Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Excise and Narcotics Department, seized 570 methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 17.1 lakh from the Vapar area in eastern Mizoram's Champhai district, Assam Rifles said in a statement.

The operation was carried out on May 19 following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of banned contraband in the area.

Acting on the tip-off, security personnel launched a night surveillance operation in the suspected zone.

During the operation, the joint team intercepted two individuals moving through a forested area close to the international border.
