Guwahati, July 31 -- Meghalaya is set to launch a pilot project in Byrnihat using solar-powered air purification machines following successful trials conducted by the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB).

The proposal was reviewed at a meeting on July 29 attended by MSPCB officials, local village leaders and representatives of Mumbai-based Zero Carbon Tech24 Pvt. Ltd., which developed the technology.

During the meeting, experts demonstrated the air purification system and explained its potential to reduce pollution levels in Byrnihat, which has repeatedly figured among India's most polluted towns in recent years.
