Guwahati, July 3 -- The Supreme Court on Friday declined to stay the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the alleged murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. However, the court agreed to examine the Meghalaya government's challenge to the bail order.

A Bench of the apex court noted that while it had certain reservations about aspects of the Meghalaya High Court's ruling, Sonam had already been released on bail. It therefore refused to pass any interim order staying her release, but issued notice to her and sought her response to the state's appeal. The matter will be heard further once her reply is filed.
