Guwahati, Sept. 17 -- National Award-winning filmmaker and Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) faculty member Dominic Sangma was allegedly assaulted by two men near the Jollang-Rakap road in Itanagar on Wednesday evening, police said.

The incident reportedly occurred after Sangma intervened when the two men were allegedly harassing a group of FTII students.

Sangma, who heads the Department of Screenwriting at FTII's Jote campus, was returning from an evening walk at around 6:30 pm when he noticed the incident.

According to a complaint filed by Sangma's wife, the filmmaker saw two men, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, carrying bamboo sticks and allegedly bullying the students. When Sangma intervened, the two men alleg...
