Guwahati: The Meghalaya Alliance of Contractors and Suppliers Welfare Association met the Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Thursday, May 28, urging stricter controls on the issuance of trading licences to firms and individuals from outside the state.

The delegation sought an end to the practice of allowing non-local entities to take up projects that local contractors and suppliers are already capable of executing.

They stressed that indigenous entrepreneurs should be given preference to ensure they are not excluded from contracting and business opportunities within the state.
