Guwahati: National People's Party (NPP) president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has called for the immediate and unconditional release of civilians reportedly being held captive amid the continuing ethnic tensions in Manipur.

In separate letters addressed to the leaders of Kuki Inpi Manipur and the United Naga Council, Sangma voiced concern over reports that six Naga men and fourteen Kuki civilians have remained in captivity since May 13 and 14.
