Guwahati, Oct. 18 -- An abandoned two-wheeler was partially damaged in a suspected petrol bomb incident in Shillong's Mawbah locality during Durga Puja celebrations late Saturday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, a loud explosion-like noise was heard around 9:30 pm, after which a suspected incendiary device landed near the vehicle and an adjacent momo stall.

Witnesses reported seeing a wire catch fire, though the device itself did not fully explode. While no injuries were reported, local residents expressed concern that the device could have landed on the roof of a nearby house.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that police had received information about the incident and initiated a probe.
