Guwahati: Former Meghalaya legislator and National People's Party (NPP) leader James P K Sangma on June 8 formally filed his nomination for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election from the state.

He submitted his papers before Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretary Malthus S Sangma, backed by the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who also serves as NPP national president, was present during the nomination process, accompanied by cabinet ministers, MLAs and representatives of alliance partners.
