Meghalaya: Govt to compensate damaged Assam-registered vehicles, cover injured person's medical costs
Guwahati, Aug. 22 -- The Meghalaya government has assured compensation for Assam-registered vehicles damaged during the August 19 violence in Shillong and said it will bear the medical expenses of people injured in the incident.
The assurance comes amid heightened tensions between Assam and Meghalaya following violence during a Khasi Students' Union (KSU) black-flag motorcycle rally in Shillong. Several vehicles were damaged during the incident, while some people were reportedly injured.
