Guwahati, April 15 -- Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has said the state government remains open to dialogue amid growing protests over a proposed tourism project at Umiam Lake and Lumpongdeng Island.

His remarks come in the backdrop of an ongoing hunger strike by the Green Tech Foundation, which has been demanding cancellation of plans to develop a five-star Taj resort and spa, citing concerns over potential ecological damage.

Responding to the protest, Tynsong said there was no need for a formal invitation for talks, asserting that the government is accessible and willing to provide clarifications on the project.
