Guwahati, April 18 -- The Manipur government has lifted the temporary restriction on mobile internet, data services, and VPN use in five districts, Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur, after reassessing the law and order situation and the difficulties faced by residents.
Authorities introduced a three-day restriction in the affected districts on April 7, citing serious security concerns at the time.
The directive had halted mobile data usage, along with broadband, VSAT, and VPN services, as a precautionary step. Later, the suspension of mobile internet was extended from time to time, while limited access to broadband connections such as ILL and FTTH was allowed under strict conditions.
