Guwahati: Three people were injured in a shooting incident near Leilon Vaiphei and Konsakhul villages in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on Monday, amid renewed tension in the area.

The injured were identified as Genlenmang Vaiphei (18), Lunliandaw Vaiphei (20) and Paogou Lal (18). Sources said all three belong to the Kuki community.

Following the incident, they were taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal for treatment under security escort.

Residents of nearby areas reported panic after gunfire was heard in the locality. However, authorities have not yet clarified how the incident unfolded or who was involved in the firing.
