Imphal, July 21 -- Continuous heavy rainfall over the past two days has triggered widespread flash floods and landslides across Manipur, with the situation worsening after a 10-foot breach developed in the Nambol River embankment at Kongkham Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district on Monday afternoon.

The embankment gave way at around 2 pm, allowing floodwaters to inundate large areas of agricultural land, residential localities and fish ponds. Residents also reported that fish from several ponds were washed away by the strong currents.
