Imphal, Sept. 22 -- Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has directed heads of all government departments to submit recruitment lists under the compassionate appointment scheme, citing the state's continuing shortage of personnel.

The Chief Minister issued the directive while speaking at a programme held at the Civil Secretariat in Mantripukhri, Imphal, on September 21, where he handed over appointment letters to 93 candidates recruited for the Land Resources Department.

The latest appointments follow the distribution of 37 offer letters in the Excise Department, taking the total number of youths appointed under the compassionate appointment scheme during Khemchand's tenure to 130.
