Heavy rainfall likely in 11 Nagaland districts over next two days: NSDMA
Dimapur, June 30 -- The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on Tuesday said 11 districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two days and cautioned that sustained precipitation could trigger flash floods in low-lying areas of Dimapur and Niuland.
In a severe weather advisory, the NSDMA said Kiphire, Wokha, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Tuensang, Tseminyu and Longleng are expected to experience intense rainfall beginning Tuesday.
The authority said the continued rainfall could lead to a rise in the water levels of rivers and streams, increasing the risk of flash floods in vulnerable low-lying areas and potentially affecting road connectivity and normal life.
