Guwahati: The Central Water Commission (CWC) has issued a fresh advisory warning of a possible flood-like situation in parts of Northeast India amid forecasts of continuous rainfall over the next few days.

According to the advisory, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted persistent rainfall across the region till May 4, which could lead to a significant rise in water levels in major rivers and tributaries between May 1 and May 6.

The warning covers several districts in Assam, including areas in the Barak Valley.

Among the rivers under close watch is the Jiabharali River in Sonitpur district, where water levels are expected to rise sharply.
