CM Himanta Biswa Sarma assures assistance for Assam residents stranded in flood-hit Nepal
Guwahati, Aug. 28 -- Assam is taking steps to assist its residents who are unable to leave Nepal due to the floods, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday.
Sarma said the state government is in contact with the families of those stranded and is working with the agencies concerned to help them stay safe and return to Assam as soon as possible.
He did not disclose how many people from Assam were stranded or missing in Nepal.
Chief Secretary Ravi Kota said no family had approached the state government so far seeking information about relatives who may be in Nepal.
