India, Sept. 22 -- Guwahati: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold a 40-minute tribute to legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg before the opening match of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 in Guwahati on September 30.

The tribute, in collaboration with the Assam Cricket Association, will take place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, before India's game against Sri Lanka.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the tribute, stating that it was a way to honor Zubeen Garg in light of the deep sorrow in Assam following his passing. "Given the grief in Assam, we felt it was important to pay tribute to Zubeen.

The 40-minute segment will be the cricket community's heartfelt tribute to him," Saikia said.
