Guwahati, Aug. 23 -- AssamSAT, described by the Assam government as India's first state-led Earth Observation satellite system, has entered a crucial stage of implementation, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on National Space Day.

The state government had earlier invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) to select an implementation partner under the DBLOTT model - Design, Build, Launch, Operate, Train and Transfer.

Sarma said the initiative had received interest from private space-sector companies across India. Proposals from prospective partners are being evaluated by dedicated committees, with the government moving towards the final stage of partner selection.
