Dibrugarh, Aug. 29 -- Security forces apprehended an active cadre of NSCN (IM) during a special operation conducted in the general area of Ledo in Assam's Tinsukia district on Friday.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of an NSCN (IM) cadre allegedly involved in weapon-related activities and the collection of extortion money, 20 Assam Rifles launched a special operation in the area.

Based on the intelligence input, the operation commenced at 1600 hrs on August 28. During the operation, an active NSCN (IM) cadre was apprehended on Friday night.

The apprehended individual was identified as SS Sergeant Major Yangsin Khocha, a resident of Phangsun Village, PS Namtok, District Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh.
