India, March 19 -- After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its nominees for the Assam Assembly polls, Dholai representative Nihar Ranjan Das decided to quit the party, bringing a sudden political shift in the Barak Valley.
Writing to the party's state leadership in Guwahati, Das said he had carried out his responsibilities with dedication and helped build the party's base in his constituency.
He expressed disappointment over being denied a chance to contest again, saying his efforts were overlooked. He also informed the leadership that he was stepping away from the party and wished to be released from all roles assigned to him.
