Guwahati, July 24 -- The death toll in floods in Assam rose to 47 on Thursday after six more people died over the past 24 hours, while the number of affected people increased to over 7.21 lakh across 11 districts, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

The latest fatalities included four deaths in Sivasagar district and two in Charaideo.

ASDMA said the floods have affected more than 7.21 lakh people across 37 revenue circles and 883 villages in Golaghat, Hojai, Kamrup, Charaideo, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Kamrup (Metro), Karbi Anglong and Tinsukia districts.
