Guwahati, Aug. 12 -- Flooding continued to affect four districts of Assam on Wednesday, with more than 1.12 lakh people affected. The weather department has forecast more rain in several affected areas.

The IMD's Guwahati centre expects thunderstorms, lightning and moderate to heavy rain in parts of Charaideo, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sivasagar and Tinsukia.

Flooding could spread to more areas as water in several rivers remains above the danger mark, an Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) official said.

At Numaligarh in Golaghat, the Dhansiri continues to be in a "severe flood situation". Its level has been rising steadily, prompting the ASDMA to advise people not to go near the river.
