Assam flood: Dhansiri inundates fresh areas in Golaghat, over 52,000 affected in Khumtai
Guwahati, Aug. 10 -- The flood situation in Assam's Golaghat district has worsened as the Dhansiri River continues to swell, inundating new areas and entering the courtyards of several houses in Dusutimukh under Marangi Mouza.
Around 14,000 families, or nearly 52,000 people, have been affected by the floods in the Khumtai Assembly constituency. The district administration has opened 32 relief camps, where around 1,300 people are currently taking shelter.
Rising floodwaters have forced residents of several villages to leave their homes. While some affected families have moved to relief camps, others have remained in their houses, taking shelter on upper floors or elevated areas to protect their belongings and livestock.
