Digboi, April 9 -- Polling in Tinsukia district progressed at a steady pace on Thursday, with an overall voter turnout of 37.53% recorded till 11 a.m., according to officials.

Among the Assembly constituencies, Makum recorded the highest turnout at 39.72%, followed by Sadiya at 38.47% and Digboi at 37.63%.

Margherita recorded around 37.87 per cent turnout, while Doomdooma registered 36.13 per cent. The Tinsukia constituency reported the lowest turnout so far at 35.20 per cent.

Polling has remained largely peaceful across the district, with voters turning up in moderate numbers during the morning hours.

Officials said the turnout is expected to rise as the day progresses.
