Guwahati, April 10 -- The Congress party on Thursday, April 9, filed a formal police complaint against its candidate from Assam's Udalguri Assembly constituency, Suren Daimari, who had stepped out of the election contest a day earlier and also announced his exit from the party.

The complaint was submitted at Bhangagarh Police Station in Guwahati by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary (organisation) Ramanna Baruah. He mentioned in the FIR that Daimari had initially sought the party's nomination for the 46 Udalguri Assembly seat, which was later approved by the organisation.
