Guwahati, April 9 -- Assam saw high voter participation on Thursday, April 9, as citizens across the state cast their ballots in the assembly elections. The Election Commission reported a turnout of around 84.42% by 5 PM.
Polling for all 126 assembly constituencies was conducted in a single phase. While the morning saw steady voter activity, participation increased notably in the afternoon, particularly in lower and central Assam districts.
Several districts recorded particularly high turnout. Barpeta led with 91.92%, followed by Bongaigaon at 91.77%. Bajali recorded 86.89%, Biswanath 83.76%, while Baksa and Charaideo reported 82.51% and 82.91%, respectively. Cachar recorded 82.19% voter participation.
