Doomdooma: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Assam Cabinet Minister Rupesh Gowala won the 2026 Assam Assembly elections from the Doomdooma constituency, polling 86,009 votes, nearly 70.79% of the total valid votes.

This marks an increase from his 2021 tally of 49,119 votes. Gowala defeated Congress candidate Durga Bhumij, who received 30,627 votes, by a margin of 55,382 votes.

NOTA accounted for 4,864 votes. The results were declared after the completion of all 21 EVM rounds on Monday, May 4, 2026.

The result shows support among tea tribe and Adivasi communities in this tea garden-dominated seat in upper Assam's Tinsukia district.
