Guwahati, May 4 -- The Assam Assembly Elections 2026 witnessed closely contested battles across key constituencies, with several decisive outcomes shaping the political landscape.
In the Mariani constituency, Rupjyoti Kurmi of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, defeating Gyanashree Bora of Raijor Dal after the completion of all 15 rounds of counting. Kurmi secured 79,632 votes, while Bora polled 52,792 votes, resulting in a winning margin of 26,840 votes.
The result further strengthens the BJP's position in Upper Assam, reflecting the party's growing electoral dominance in the region.
