Guwahati, July 31 -- The Assam Cabinet on Friday cleared the Assam Compressed Biogas (CBG) Policy, 2026, to promote compressed biogas production and support the growth of the state's clean energy sector.

Under the policy, the Commissioner of Industries and Commerce will function as the nodal agency for a single-window clearance system to facilitate the timely implementation of CBG projects.

Investors in the sector will also be eligible for support under a six-pillar incentive framework designed to encourage investment and expand clean energy infrastructure.

Reserve forest status will now be granted to the Rakhyasini Proposed Reserve Forest and the Tharko Nalbari Proposed Reserve Forest in Goalpara district following the Cabinet's appro...
