Assam: Wild elephant tramples police havildar to death in Goalpara
Guwahati, Sept. 6 -- A 50-year-old havildar of the Assam Police was killed after being attacked and trampled by a wild elephant while patrolling the 17th Assam Police Battalion (APBN) camp in Goalpara district early on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 1 am at the camp in the Dakurbhita area, when Havildar Amzad Ali was conducting a patrol within the premises.
According to reports, a lone wild elephant entered the area and attacked Ali, causing him serious injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
