Guwahati, Sept. 17 -- Two police personnel posted at Patharkandi Police Station in Sribhumi district have been arrested in connection with an alleged extortion case involving Rs 14 lakh.

According to allegations, a business associate was picked up from Patharkandi Railway Station on September 10 and taken in a police vehicle to the Chandkhira area. The individual was allegedly forced to hand over Rs 14 lakh there.

During the subsequent investigation, the involvement of two police personnel, including a sub-inspector posted at Patharkandi Police Station, reportedly came to light.

Police later arrested Lance Naik Anwar Hussain and Constable Sajal Shuklabaidya in connection with the case.
