Assam: Tinsukia administration enforces school bag weight limits across district
Doomdooma, Sept. 10 -- The Tinsukia district administration has directed all government and private schools to strictly adhere to prescribed limits on the weight of students' school bags.
Education Department officials on Wednesday conducted inspections at several schools across the district and physically weighed students' school bags to check compliance with the directive.
Officials said the restrictions have been introduced to safeguard students' health and well-being. Schools have been instructed to ensure that children are not made to carry books or other materials beyond the prescribed limits.
Under the norms, students of Classes I and II are allowed to carry school bags weighing no more than 1.5 kg.
