Assam: Sivasagar flood damage survey identifies 42,500 affected houses
Guwahati, Aug. 26 -- The Sivasagar district administration has completed around 85% of the Rapid Damage Assessment Survey launched after the floods that hit the district on July 19, 2026, identifying around 42,500 affected houses so far.
The assessment began on August 9, with 574 surveyors deployed to evaluate losses under the "severe damage" category. The survey has also covered damage to handlooms, livestock, goats, pigs and poultry.
The assessment will continue until August 30, and the district administration has asked affected families who may have been inadvertently missed to contact local survey teams, panchayat presidents or ward members immediately to ensure their details are recorded before the deadline.
