Guwahati, May 16 -- Sikkim Statehood Day was observed at Assam Lok Bhavan on May 16 as part of the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative, under the leadership of Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

Speaking at the event, the Governor conveyed his greetings to the people of Sikkim and described the state as a beacon of peace, development, environmental stewardship and national pride. He noted that Sikkim has become a model of sustainable development by emerging as India's first fully organic state, proving that economic progress and environmental conservation can go hand in hand.
